Euthanasia....

That awful situation in America....a woman in a permanent vegetative state.... whether the decision to end her life was right or not...surely...once it had been decided, it was a cruel slow end to just starve and dehydrate her....? It would have been a dreadful but surely better and braver decision to have administered a drug to end her life peacefully ??

I sometimes think that the history of civilization as we know it has been the battle between Cowpokes and Sodbusters......... from the time when wandering bands of hunter gatherers roamed the wildwood and preyed on fledgling farmers raising stock and growing corn... men have always been torn between settling down to found a dynasty...and saddling up ...riding out...jumping a train...riding the rails... Political Correctness Gawn Mad....blah blah

How often do we hear this from folks who sense that it's all a left wing plot to undermine civilization? I often feel that they miss the point....talk of "thought police" and "brainwashing" is mischievous and misplaced. You are entitled to your own private views on each and every issue ...BUT...in civil society we have agreed...often through changes in the law... on certain principles such as equality of the sexes...races etc.... people's right to their own sexuality... all kinds of things like that- so...in public life we treat people decently and properly . This necessitates thinking about how we use language...how we describe groups of people....how we avoid excluding or hurting people. It isn't that bad really folks.
