don't know if it's widely known... but lots of Portuguese people working here in Norfolk/Cambs now....getting lots of the usual flak.... 3 of them went into the 40 foot drain in a car and drowned........ they'd been picking vegetables.... others gut chickens......... jobs no bugger else wants..... they just announced one of the dead was a grandmother sending her money home to put her grandson through college..............................................................not ashamed to say I'm crying as I watch and listen to this....................God....... surely we ALL want the best for our own......... she came to a strange land where the yobs call you Porkies...pretend there's a bad smell when you walk by...... and she was a gran sending money home to give him a start in life..... you can imagine what picking veg is like here in February.........and that they got the minimum wage.....and the horror of driving into a freezing Fenland drain.....................................Christ we don't know the half of it...is there a poem there ?? left behind the sun ....strange food ...language....frozen fingers...weather damp and grey.... racist abuse.......... hope so

Anyone who reads this stuff must know me by now.....politically on the left...very tolerant...understanding...always try to engage the brain before judging...distrust common sense... believe in a certain goodness in people...etc..........

Just watching a demo on TV of Islamic militants carrying posters saying - behead those who insult the Prophet... exterminate...kill those who attack Islam...............clearly....... obviously... not speaking for all Muslims...but I felt it so disgraceful that troops wading in to arrest them and smash their posters would have really pleased me........... Maybe the old story...it is good to look deeply for the roots of social problems and disaffection...why they hate etc...but you can't allow vile behaviour to continue however much you may understand about where it's coming from........it's a bit like watching the Puritans burn witches or heretics.... 300 years out of date.. but sometimes think that the only answer to religion is Prosperity....more money...more scope for advancement...and often people soon adapt their religion to support mammon .... sad ??
